To note, this review was made on December of last year, so I archive my review that I done on Twitter/X under @sweetochabear. I created this Post to do some polishing up and I will do the same for all of them except for Vol 8 and onwards.  I’ll still discuss it on Twitter/X, but I’ll post it on here too as well as 🦋. 

Even though this will be the refine version, I’m not going to try and keep what I originally said on Twitter/X. Due because I was all over the place and gotten emotional of how I’m caught up to speed.  And I’m really thankful for you and everyone who enjoy reading my Re-thrus and my Blog post. Especially when their was topics I forgot to discuss on.

Then on to the discussion. 😊

Vol 7 is post Anime, so there isn’t going to be any Episodes to look out for to see what they kept or took out.  How the Anime ended is not the same how it end in Vol 6 of the LN.   How Vol 6 ended Keith offer Anne to start a Workshop together.  So as a LN only reader your fill with excitement to pick up Vol 7 to see what happens next and in joy you go to you prefer  Bookstore or E-shop or the Yen Press Store and buy Vol 7.  (I need to pre-order Vol 9, is calling for me.)

Compare to the Anime, Anne, Challe, and Mithril were trying to plan out what their going to do next and the trio head off to the horizons making Anime ( especially Anime only) watcher to use our imagination.  (Or we move on to find another Anime to watch or will ether  start writing Fan-fics or deal with Anime post depression. If we never knew Sugar Apple Fairy Tale had an Original Source Material.)

If Sugar Apple Fairy Tale gets a Season 2 it would be really interesting to see how they’re going to go from there. But I’m not going to dive deep in that ocean on that in this blog post. I’m going to discuss my thoughts on Vol 7 and what happen with everyone. (Just like I wonder if Elliot and Bridget called off their engagement and Orlando bend down on one knee for Bridget.)

Vol 7 starts off  with Anne, Challe, and Mithril getting ready since Anne decided to join Keith in working on a Workshop together.  While their waiting on Keith to come at Holly Leaf castle, suddenly Hugh showed up to give Anne and Elliot a request to go to Royal Castle in pre-pairing to make Sugar Confessionary along with helping a new Character of a Fairy name Lulu while also dives deep into a lot of things.  

Keith question to Hugh on why he wasn’t chosen, after their private discussion while Keith proving and questioning to Hugh of his worth to get this opportunity to join Anne and Elliot.  Hugh gave  Keith the acceptance to join.

 That anwser mine’s(and many others’s) question for Keith in what he’s going to do then just him planning to set up and launch his Workshop with Anne.  Keith will now join Anne and Elliot to the Royal castle. While the anwser we got for everyone else is doing after the First Holy Festival.

🍎 Jonas end up going back to the Radcliffe Workshop. 

🍎 Kat headed back to Southcent to do more work.

🍎 Everyone from the Paige workshop except Elliot went back to the Millsfield.

🍎 Noah heal from his issues and decide to start a new path.

Aside from Lulu we also are introduce to new Characters John Killean who is a proxy maestro of the Mercury Workshop and Stella Knox who is a Candy crafter from the Radcliffe Workshop. (Yes, the same Workshop that is run by Jonas’s uncle.)

I enjoyed reading Vol 7 it had a lot of surprising things to happen.  One of the things that took me by surprised was the Queen met Anne and her Mom when Anne was a little girl.  Which made me want to know more info on Anne’s Mom,  back when she was a Sugar Crafter when Lulu notice a Tool that Anne had that her Mom gave her.  I wonder if she know the secret trades of being the Silver Sugar Viscount because her Teacher was one? The first thing that surprised me that Lulu was Hugh’s Teacher, but Lulu confirm Hugh was just saying that just as a tease. Aside from the surprising things that happen I was giggling a lot from the interaction between Hugh and Lulu and Challe being Challe.

And there was some Steamy moments in and out of Vol 7. (Which I don’t know if I can show on here, which is why I use the photos from the Anime.)

Out of the new Characters that debut in Vol 7 I really love Lulu she had me giggling from how she acted as much as Challe being Challe. But I had to say Double snap when Lulu was threatening Anne just so they can let her be free. And I can understand her feelings, if I was trap making something for hundreds of years and I didn’t have the freedom to go where ever I want to go as I happily please. I would want to get the heck up out of there some way or some how too. But I wouldn’t use anyone just to get my freedom. (And I’m not gonna share my ideas on how I would do that.)

Keith’s POV was really interesting to get into since threw out Vol 1-6 we only got to view Anne and Challe’s POV.  Keith’s in this vol is trying to understand his feelings for Anne and wonders if his feeling for Anne is more than what he thought. While he wants to look at Anne as his equal while having this yearning for her. To where now Keith confess his love to Anne, and the one thing I felt was very gentlemen of Keith was telling Anne to not rush in giving him a anwser. (If I was in Anne’s position despite I’m a AnneXChalle shipper but Anne got some really good choices between Challe and Keith.)

I was happy Keith said that because he could have went Yandere on Anne if she didn’t give him an anwser let alone rejected it. Personally I was hopping Challe would be the one to confess to Anne as well, but he went back to acting like he didn’t want Anne.  (But we know he secretly dose.) 

Now I just really want to know;

   

Is Challe going to confess to Anne in Vol 8?

Is Anne going to choose Challe or Keith in Vol 8?

Will we get something throw at us out of the blue and the Love Triangle turns into a Reverse Harem?

Thank goodness I got my Copy of Vol 8 because is driving me crazy to know. (Also running away from Spoilers have been easy so far)

 As of writing this, I’m going to read and post my reactions of Vol 8 on X/Twitter since I got my copy.

I feel bad I been neglecting my 🦋 account. But I been posting this posts on there, so I’m not neglecting it anymore. 😳

Even though this will be the refine version, I’m going to try and keep what I originally said on Twitter/X as much as I can. But just to fix any spelling errors or grammatical mistakes.  So if you wonder what “LN” is, is the abbreviation for Light Novel. On to the discussion.

  Vol 6 covers Episode 21- 24 of the Anime. Which means future volumes happen after the Anime ended.  So if you want have the same experience that I have wanting to read and watch to see what was in the LN or not those are the Episodes.

As I read threw, the events they sorta turn out the same in the Anime. But the Victim who got attacked is the same person who got attacked in the Anime. The only scenario that turn out differently in the Anime was Challe bluntly telling Bridget what had happen.  Which Bridget felt a heavy weight of guilt over it.  I could understand this feeling since this hits close to home for me because I have Self-guilt issues. Even though their unnecessary guilt issues like “I should have said this, then this outcome wouldn’t have happen.” Type of issues.  Even to this day I sometimes question on how I should say this or that, or if I should scrap that out because it might come off ignorant or offensive. But I learn how to fix the situation if I came off wrong in anyway.  Just like Anne told Bridget to try and fix the mistakes that you have already done. But on the other had you have to accept that you sometimes can’t fix your mistakes if the damage is that’s badly done that is hard to repair it. (I was shock Anne and her Mom had a quarrel in the LN. 😳)

Another scenario that was different in the Anime and LN was Anne and Jonas reuniting again in Vol 6. I felt torn because I love how the Anime did it as well as the Light Novel. The Anime made it funny when Anne was pulling Jonas to come with her and Jonas stubbornly refuse to come. 😂

But on the other hand in the LN Anne and Jonas had a heart to heart talk about their strengths and weakness, it made me realized LN Jonas has so much layers to him. And is sad that is not shown much in the Anime and I’m deeply thankful I was recommend to read the LN when I was ranting about it on X.

 (I can’t find my post on me ranting about Jonas in Episode 1. But I’m nether good or bad at Live posting watching Anime. The last rant post I did was watching Hakuoki on Crunchy Roll, I drop watching the Anime when the Switch edition of Hakuoki got localized and I ask everyone if I should keep watching or just drop it and go play the Otome. And listening to the votes that I need to play it and drop watching the Anime was the best thing. Just like reading the LN of Sugar Apple Fairy Tale was the best thing that I got recommend.)

I’m excited to read Vol 7.  I want to know what happens to everybody.

Is Jonas going to stay at the Paige workshop?

 Is Orlando gonna bend down on one knee for Bridget? 

Is Challe gonna confess his love to Anne? 

Is there gonna be a love triangle between Keith and Challe for Anne? 

Is Huge gonna to drop by and hang out with Anne and Keith at their workshop or Anne’s workshop?

 Is Kat gonna drop by at the workshop???

Vol 5 covers Episode 17- 20 of the Anime.  So if you want have the same experience that I have wanting to read and watch to find out what was in the LN or not, those are the Episodes.

After reading Vol 5 I didn’t know if it was going to play out the same or differently in the Anime. I want to say it kinda did but with more detail that connects everything with Holly Leaf Castle and how everyone feels about having to work there.  I resonated with King’s feelings of having to work in Holly Leaf Castle.  Because if I was there and heard that Holly Leaf Castle was haunted I would have to turn back around.  I rather make Confectionery in the Woods then doing it in an Eerie place.  But the gang’s faith in working at Holly Leaf Castle turn into a destiny in helping Noah from his on-going problem that close the chapter.

Gladys’s introduction was slightly different in the Anime compare to the LN where everyone wonder where Bridget was and they assume she was going to meet up with a Friend. 

In the Anime everyone’s concern about Bridget was the lease of their problume.  But what I find crazy is how everyone except Anne and Challe were upset at Bridget for owning Gladys.  I especially surprised at Elliot for having a huge problem with it.   Because in Vol 4 Elliot openly admit to Anne that he doesn’t love Bridget like that, but out of no where he’s acting funny that Bridget got another Fairy. 

If I was Elliot I would be happy for Bridget that she found someone else since she can’t have Challe. 

(Which I don’t want Challe to be with Bridget like everyone else does. Unless theirs BridgetXChalle shippers hiding in the fandom…. Then sorry for assuming your AnneXChalle shipper or AnneXKeith shipper. 👀 I know I’m going way  off subject. 😅)

Even with them being in an arrange marriage and they don’t love each other like that, I would be happy for Bridget for finding a partner that she loves. Even if Gladys was sus, Elliot should be happy for Bridget if no one else would. (Though I ship Bridget with Orlando in my personal opinion.)

Challe and Gladys’s interaction was really good in the LN, on top with Gladys seeing right through Challe in wanting to be with Anne despite Challe denies to Gladys that is far from true.  (But is secretly true. 🎶“No chance, No way…I won’t say it. No, Noooo….”🎶)

Between LN Gladys/Lafall and the Anime counter part I want to say they’re both identical, but LN Gladys’s sly behavior is more kick up a notch compare to his Anime counter part.

 (It makes me feel bad for Bridget that she keeps ending up with Un-faithful Men who aren’t faithful to her Romantically. First Elliot and now Gladys/Lafall.) 

The one thing I feel is important to read the LN because you get more context for Scenes. When I watch this scene in the Anime, it made more since why Challe made this expression durning the scene in the Anime from reading the context from the LN. 

I always enjoy hearing Challe’s inner thoughts from his POV threw out the Volumes and Challe’s love and care for Anne is  so beautiful in the LN. 

How things ended in Vol 5 was sorta the same how it play out in the Anime. I thought LN Challe was gonna grab LN Anne, hop on thier Horse and speed off through the night.  But I know if they did that everyone is gonna question why Challe took off with Anne. 

It makes me want to know how Vol 6 of the LN is gonna to play out the same way or differently from the Anime?

Is Challe and Lafall are gonna have a duel in front of Hollyleaf Castle?  

Are Anne, Challe, and Mythril gonna escape Hollyleaf Castle with out being notice and start their journey through the backwoods?

I’m NOT going to try and keep what I originally said on Twitter/X as much as I can. I talk about Bridget more than I have with our Main characters in this Volume that it went from Sugar Apple Fairy Tale to The Melancholy Life of Bridget Paige.  So I will do a dedicated post for her in a separate post.  On to the discussion.

  I’m happy you took my soft recommend warning, because this made me do a binge read because I wanted to know the outcome from reading Vol 4 was going to play out in the Anime.  Vol 4 covers Episode 13- 16 of the Anime, so if you want to be like me and watch the episodes while reading Vol 4 you can.   

The only thing that happen both in the Anime and LN is Orland was the one who put Challe’s wing under Mr. Paige Pillow. And Huge winning the bet he and Kat made.

🧚🏻‍♂️Anime and LN difference:

🍎 In the LN there is a lead up to the Paige workshop we’re Bridget and Challe have a moment talk while Mr. Radcliffe and his Wife came to tell Bridget the bad news regarding to her Dad. This never happen in the Anime, and it jump skip to Anne and Huge met up and Huge place a bet that Kat___which happen in both the Anime and LN.

🍎 In the LN Mr. Radcliffe gave Sammy a deserved punishment and invited Jonas back to work at the Workshop.

🍎 In the LN Bridget squeeze Challe’s wing for him not speaking to her nicely like he would with Anne. While in the Anime, Bridget squeeze Challe’s wing as a threat to not be near Anne but it happen in mid episode of episode 13.

🍎 Mr. Paige’s health issue was never disclose in the Anime. (Unless it was mention in the Original. I need to re-watch SAFT in Japanese.) in the LN it disclose that he has a Heart disease.

🍎 The chase scene where Anne was running after Bridget to not punish Challe was more detail in the LN then in the Anime.

Reading the LN and the Anime I enjoyed the Angst but the vibe between Anne and Challe gave me a bit of a Rome and Juliette vibe that both Anne and Challe want to see each other but are forbidden to because of Bridget.  In the LN you get a better understanding of Anne’s desires of wanting Challe and Mithril to be together while also asking herself threw out Vol 4 of why she wanted to make sugar Candy so bad.

( I thought she wanted make Sugar Candy because of her Mom. 🤔)

As well as thinking of what she can do as the Silver Sugar Master, along with wondering how she should save the Paige workshop. While on Challe’s end he yearns for Anne but he also doesn’t want Anne to come get him because Challe feels he’s holding Anne back from her future.

The LN has more slice of life moments with Anne trying to build a friendship with Orlando, Nadir, Valentine, King and even Elliot despite he came off Flirtatious and Un-hinge on things but over the course of Vol 4 all of Elliot’s actions make since of why he done them.

Up next is Vol 5, this is when we’ll get introduce to Gladus who’s secretly is Challe’s Brother. So I’m looking forward to know more of how he is in the LN compare to the Anime. (Also be carful of looking at his wiki page because theres Spoilers.)

As a soft recommend warning, you need to buy Vol 3 and 4 of the Light Novel at the same time. Because you would badly want to jump to Vol 4 after reading Vol 3. Prior to reading Vol 3 I watch the Anime which Vol 3 covers Episode 9-12 of the Anime.

During my reading it makes me want to go back to watching the Episodes just to compare and contrast of what was and was not feature in the Anime. And with a hint of spoiler and to anwser your question if is best you skip this Volume and just jump read to Vol 4 or 5 because you don’t want to read what you just watch. The anwser my dear reader….

Is no.

Because the outcomes of Vol 3 altered differently from watching Episode 9-12.

🍎 Bridget is more tolerant in the LN versus the Anime. While in the Anime you know Bridget would rather want to be else where then being drag around because of her Fiancé.

Spoilers ahead from what was left out in the Anime.  If you don’t want to know then go to your local bookstore or E-book store, read Vol 3 and come back to read my discovery when I found out from my surprised from reading Vol 3.

🍎 Huge’s background 

Huge’s background was never explored in the Anime compare to the LN. 

🍎 Anne play hooky a lot by skipping Sunday School.

🍎 Sammy’s Orchestrated  plan 

In the Anime and LN, Sammy’s motives where the same but LN Jonas display more Heart of Gold then his Anime Counter part. When Challe ran off to save Anne, Jonas vocally express guilt in feeling bad for being part of what Sammy was trying to do. Keith was involved being there for Anne in the LN, compare to the Anime where he pop up randomly and was no where to be found durning the time when Sammy orchestrated the mess and Mr. Radcliffe threw Jonas under the bus despite Jonas was innocent but just like in the Anime Mr. Radcliffe favor  Sammy more than his own Nephew. (The Nepotism card was not in Jonas’s favor at that Workshop)

 But in both LN and Anime he offer Anne a drink and ask for Challe to be his Model. But with the whole mess that Sammy orchestrated he was no where to be found. 

🍎 Mithril finding out how he can make it up to Anne by helping her and Challe get together. 

🍎 Challe gave Anne his last hug(for now) then gave Anne a kiss on the Cheek. While in the Anime he just only hug her.

I really enjoyed reading Vol 3 more than watching Episode 9-12 of the Anime. But the Anime did have some fun moments but Vol 3 have more richer moments which is why you shouldn’t skip this Volume.
